Cladded Series Wear Plate
True Chromium-Carbide Tough
The Boundary cladded series wear plate offers the surface protection of a hardsurfacing electrode and the ease of attachment of a mild steel plate. Its special manufacturing process combines with the right chromium carbide distribution to create the best composite wear plate available today.

Boundary's cladded series offers dilution control that ensure the chromium carbides (30%+) are suspended evenly throughout the matrix and that 100% of the wear surface is metalurgically bonded to the mild steel base material. This unique composite wear material is guaranteed to provide a uniform wear surface that, if used properly, will not spall off.

Six Reasons to use Boundary Cladded Series Wear Plate

  1. It provides high chromium hardsurface protection without the time and effort required to apply hardsurface electrodes
  2. It offers a more dense matrix than hardsurface electrodes for improved wear life
  3. It typically achieves 4 to 10 times the wear life of AR steels in abrasion applications
  4. It is easily applied to most surfaces utilizing 7018 weld electrodes
  5. It is readily formable into special shapes or pipe
  6. It saves time and money

Typical Applications
Dozer skins, Chutes, Fan Blades, Flat Back Elbows, Skirt Board Liners, Loader Bucket Liners, Cyclone Components, Scroll Liners, Scrap Bucket Liners, Furnace Bells

Cutting and Grinding
Cutting is easily performed utilizing plasma or air arc. Plasma cutting can be performed with the hardsurface side up. Air arc is best performed with the back side of the plate facing up.

The nature of the chromium carbide dictates that conventional machine procedures will not work, grinding and EDM methods are the only proven methods of metal removal. When grinding, a hard grid-soft bond wheel works best. Carbon arc gouging can be used for non-precision hole piercing or metal removal

Recommended Attachment
Attachment is quick and easy. Welding can be performed utilizing most combinations of carbon steel electrodes (Ex: 7018, 11018,30988).

Bolting is accomplished by using countersunk holes or Nelson studs attached to the mild steel backing plate. Nelson studs or fasteners of 3/4-inch minimum are recommended.

Forming can be accomplished easily, utilizing standard equipment. All bends should be made towards the clad surface. Rolls should be protected from the hard chromium carbide surface of the clad material.
